Sorry this fantasy trip is over. Back to Reality

This has been a wnderful experiment I have learned many things: 1. Nature is amazing 2. Our Heavenly Father has created a wonderful, diverse and beautiful world waiting to be explored. 3.  My bucket list is longer than 8 lifetimes 4. I really wish I could travel 5. When trying to take a fantast trip, Reality will become even more interesting. The main thing is that I bit off more than I can chew with this challenge and need to call retreat.  We will defineitly return to this adventure some time in the future, but for now I need to focus on what's really going on in reality.  And we were just getting to the amazing part of the tour.  So there's something to look forward to.   Sorry to leave you have way through the woods, but ........

Fantasy Cruise - Day 26 Copenhagen

Image
On Tuesday, July 26 at 1pm we arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark we are in port until 11 pm lucky for us the sun stays up late this time of year.  There are over 25 different tour options in this port but we have had good luck with the Oceania recommended ones we choose that one.  It's another full day tour, but they warn us that we will do a lot more walking this time and to wear good comfortable shoes. A Tour Of Two Kingdoms - Denmark To Sweden   (CPH-007) This lovely full-day excursion will first take you on a panoramic city tour of Copenhagen where you will get the chance to see such sights as The Little Mermaid, the world famous symbol of Copenhagen; the residence of the Royal Family, Amalienborg Palace; and beautiful Amaliehaven Park, located at the seafront. Traveling on, you'll pass several other of the main highlights found within Copenhagen, including Christiansborg Castle, now home to the Danish Parliament; the Town Hall Square; Tivoli Gardens; the Black Diamon...

Fantasy Cruise - Days 23 -25 Oslo, Norway

Saturday, July 23 at 8 am we arrive at Torshavn (Faroe Islands), Denmark  we are only in port until 4 pm so we need to enjoy as much of the beauty of this place as possible, quickly. Sunday, July 24 we spend Cruising the North Sea at 10 am on Monday, July 25 we arrive in Oslo, Norway.   There are a choice of 17 shore excursions to choose for our short time in port but we will go with the Oceania recommended option: Hadeland Glass Works & Viking Ships   (OSL-013) This is a full day tour of approximately 7 1/2 hours.    The tour begins by driving through this impressive capital city past the City Hall, National Theater, and the Royal Palace to Bygdoy Peninsula. The Viking Ships Museum here is reminiscent of a cathedral, which seems a fitting homage as there are three inspirational Viking long ships inside, dating from 800-900 AD. You will be amazed at the incredible artisanship. Rejoin the coach to travel through suburbs and farmland ...

Fantasy Cruise - Iceland (Days 17-22)

Image
So this experiment has taught me a few things about myself.  First, I really want to travel but more importantly that this world is amazing.  The beauty and awesomeness of nature are incredible.   On day 17 we are to cruise Prince Christian Sound.   If you can go on YouTube and watch some of the incredible videos posted there showing the beauty of this place.   It is a slow 6 hour cruise through and even for July it is chilly on deck, so find a window and enjoy the view. Prince Christian Sound Day 18 has us enjoying another slow cruise, but this time through the Denmark Strait At 7am on Tueday, July 19 we arrive in Reykjavik, Iceland.   Probably most visited to see the Northern Lights in winter time (definite bucket list to do item) since we are here in summer even though I am told they are shining with the Summer Midnight Sun we have no chance of seeing them. We will be making three different stops in different cities in Ice...

Fantasy Cruise - Days 14-16 Greenland

Image
So I guess you thought we didn't make it across the Atlantic since it has been a while since our last update, but no we are safe just busy with life -  proof of the need for a fantasy vacation.  Our ship arrived in Nuuk, Greenland at 9am on July 14, 2016 or day 14.  Sadly on this day in Nice, France while celebrating Bastille Day, there was a terrorist attack and all of Europe is in mourning.  Add the confusion of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union and the world is a mess, but we are having a fantasy vacation so in our world all is happy and bright.   There are no organized tours for this port and it is an anchor port, meaning if we want to see anything we need to catch a tender to shore.  Luckily the tender pier is right by the National Museum and Tourist Information Office. The largest city in Greenland, Nuuk is the cultural and economic center of the country. Explore the picturesque colonial harbor with its quaint old buildings and the newl...
